I'm currently also reading Book of the New Sun (also due to recommendations from this sub), so that may have influenced my feeling that Harrington is the unreliable narrator of her own story. Why those rivals appear to be so irredeemably villainous (history is written by the victors, after all) Is (eventually) universally loved and respected by all - except for her rivals who hate and underestimate her, only to then be beaten by her How she's able to come up with numerous great ideas for fixing any problem, at the drop of a hat How she is perfectly honourable, and never lets emotion or personal gain ever get in the way of Duty

Why she never gets anything wrong (though in effort to at least appear humble, she admits to not being great at maths) However, some of those flaws begin to make more sense if we imagine that Honor Harrington herself was the narrator - obviously writing her own POV in the third person, and reconstructing other POVs based on available evidence or speculation. I've just finished On Basilisk Station (based on recommendations from this sub), and I really enjoyed it - despite agreeing with its many flaws described here and elsewhere.
